It did have an old Pioneer GM-X252 amplifier kicking 2 old Radio Shack 8 inch CSW-800 subs in a sealed box with a divider seperating the 2 sub chambers wired as normal. Also it had 2 Aiwa bookshelf speakers with round ports at the bottom of them in the rear corners of the trunk. Running a standard Ford HU with an MP3 player. This is by far the ugliest system in the world but it worked great.

Crimson Reflection

A reflection shot of a segment of the Ramapo River right next to the bridge leading to the Ramapo Reservation. When taping this I decided to leave the modified HDR-HC9 camcoder in color mode. This, combined with the X-Nite XDP filter that was over the lens, gave the image a red cast. Instead of setting the camcorder to black and white or color correcting it for a black and white infrared image like I normaly do, I decided to keep the red color. In editing I made the red water more darker giving it a blood like quality. As this was located next to the bridge, and it was a weekend, there were many hikers going by so there was no chance for nature only sounds to be recorded. I decided to have the mic input set to zero creating a silent video. When I edited the clip I decided to add in my own DIY water drips. This was done by dropping water into a pan filled with water. The "mic" used to record the sound was a Sony DCR-HC52 hooked up via an I-Link to a Samsung DVD/VCR recorder. The DVD/VCR unit is hooked to an Outlaw receiver with JBL bookshelf speakers. The Samsung was set to DVD and the HC52 was set in record mode. This creates, depending on how close the Sony unit is to the hi-fi system and how high the receiver's volume is set (it doesn't take much!) creates a reverberating feedback. Since the Sony unit is a microphone in this setup, ANY sound made in my room is picked up and sent into the Outlaw! I have sounds of the feedback as well as my feet making the floorboards ...

My first attempt at posting a video of my system. The video doesn't do justice to the tremendous bass coming out of these bookshelf speakers. Although I had the sub turned on you'll notice from the strip of paper that I attached on the port hole that it was not doing much, in fact not a whole lot of time, except for that last bit that's why I panned my video to it when I noticed the paper strip moved.

These small, almost cube-shaped Panasonic bookshelf speakers from the early '70s give this much newer Panasonic stereo system, circa 1994, a much improved audio quality. An upgraded stylus from www.turntableneedles.com with elliptical diamond tip and metal cantilever also brings much improved sound to its built-in turntable. The combined effect is a drastic increase in performance from an otherwise low-end, budget-model stereo system.

These speakers are amazingly loud for there size. They are very clear, and don't let there size fool you, they have very loud and clear base. However for very low songs such as some hip-hop/rap and r&b songs don't play as well. But what do you expect the speakers are rated to a minimum of 45 Hz. so a sub is strongly suggested The do handle highs very well. The only thing that is not clear online, is the type of connectors on the back. Different from the rest of the VE series is these speakers don't come with 5-way binding posts(which accept both raw wire and banana plugs) instead they come with regular clip connectors(which only fit raw wire, or monsters flex wire cables). As well I couldn't find anywhere online how many ohms these speakers were, it did however say right on the box. They are 8 ohms. And for 80 buck a pair you cant go wrong.=) I truly agree with anyone who says that Cerwin Vegas are the best speakers in the world.

this doesnt have the original cloth, because it had lots of cat rips on it. I was riding my bike and saw this behind a bad of trash, it was a speaker, but not just any speaker it was a Rectilinear Research loudspeaker, using a 31/2" tweeter with a black metal dustcap, and a 10" woofer, both speakers in this box have al-ni-co magnets. I love this thing, the finish needs re finished soon as well. I didnt remove the old caps in the cross over, as they were still functional. This thing can thump! Sorry for the crappy music and no excursion, as it was 11:40 in the night when I did this, Expect a video on the excursion and the insides of this speaker in the next week. Yea..... I will make another video soon. By the crappy music I AM TALKING ABOUT THE RAP MUSIC! I hate it. LOL

Hey! Today I could not wait any longer, I drove down to "Hifi Klubben" and bought a pair of Dali Concept 1 speakers. As I write this I am playing the speakers on a soft and comfortable volume, and they sound great! I've been waiting for so long to get myself a pair of bookshelf speakers! All this time I've been sitting here with a pair of uncomfortable Koss SB45 headphones. Those times are over, now I can enjoy Daft Punk, Trentemøller, Rush, Metallica, Tool and many others on a pair of comfortable speakers! The amplifier is a "Corda Audio CL200" witch is designed by a company from Kristiansand, Norway, used to go under the name "Kristiansands Lydfabrikk". I made this amplifier myself at school. If you are wondering about the two holes in the from of the amplifier, its for the bass and treble controls, but the card for it is broken, so I'm going to fix it and install it to the amplifier, but not yet, because now im using the computer to adjust bass and treble, so no stress. In the movie you can also see my Philips 32PFL5522D/12, a Xbox 360, my computer, CD's and DVD's, and more.

Hey you! What are you doing listening to speaker comparisons on youtube? Listening to what speakers sound like through your own speakers is kind of pointless don't you think? Anyways, thought I'd throw this together regardless in case anyone finds it useful. At least watch in 720p so the audio is at its best. You won't be doing yourself any favors listening to it in lesser quality. This was recorded with a Zoom H2 recorder set 1ft above mid-speaker and 5 ft back (my normal listening position). All MP3s played through the speakers were ripped from the original CDs w LAME 3.98 @ VBR 192kbps. The Logitech Z-560 system has only 2 speakers and a subwoofer connected, since 4 front-facing satellite speakers would be pointless. I tried to get a good mix of songs here: live recordings, funk, hip-hop, instrumental, jazz. The bass in this video is much more pronounced on the AudioEngine A5 clips primarily because all the bass is coming from the speakers themselves directly towards the microphone, whereas on the Logitechs the bass is coming off from the right from the subwoofer on the floor. The A5s provide plenty of bass without a subwoofer, and it's a cleaner, smoother bass than what the Logitechs pump out of the subwoofer. Both speakers did well with live music. It was reproduced great and you can hear all the detail of the crowd. A5s seem to be smoother all around, but most noticeable in the highs and bass. Both speakers are great speakers, but the AudioEngine does a better job ...

My little camera doesn't do the sound any justice.

This is an XY plot of current (X-axis) vs. voltage (Y-axis) for a run-of-the-mill bookshelf speaker. Yes, I know the axes are backwards from a conventional IV plot. Speakers are far from ideal loads, especially when they contain passive crossovers. An ideal speaker would have a line with a constant slope that elongated out from the middle. The displayed oscilloscope is my Tektronix 7854. I used a current probe to measure the current in the speaker leads, and a conventional X10 oscilloscope probe for the voltage.
