Once i got those i put them in the Cabinets in which i had the Tangband W3-594,which is 4.7lt tuned to 75hz. The problem is that i tested them in various liters and they do seem to play in about 5liter with +/- 1liter,but they must have 110 to 120hz Fs so in a Cabinet tuned to 75hz the bass is laggy loose and crappy. I can't tune the Cabinet at 120hz to retest them so i will sometime close the Reflex and make a test to see in how much liters on sealed cab they play as they should (aswell crappy but better than now). This isn't a project of speakers meant for high fidelity listening,more like having fun with cheap drivers into random cabinets i've had for other drivers,but i like what i'm doing so that's why i'm spending time on them. b&w 685 playing Moby powered by Denon 1910. Just a wonderful speaker. Took about 100 hours to break in. Bass is stronger than you would expect out bookshelf speakers. They play really loud. They are a bit power hungry. They have strong mids. Voices just jump out at you more than other speakers I've tested. The highs are detailed yet not bright. Really easy to listen to. They are great for all types of music. I highly recommend them to anyone considering these.

I pretty much ditched my old plan with the infinity 5.25 speakers and re-designed some bookshelf speakers that sound much fuller and are much better. The old power box design was too bulky and had too many wires. Sure, I could have made it smaller and made it work, but this route was more efficient with better results overall. The power box isn't quite done yet, as it needs paint still, but after that, it will look good as well as sound good. My main use will be for drive-in movies. It's too hard to sit in your car to see the movie so with this I can sit in my fold out chair and have great sound too! This can also be used for parties too. It was a fun project and the results were well worth it! Thanks again BigD for helping out with ideas and the amp. You the man!

This unit totally kicks ass! But I have no use for it. It is perfect for a whole system amp, front stage + sub or an active front stage. Movie sequence: DS - Valve - in all cases. Scroll to the end for quick comparisons. This is a very crude A to B of a LINN KLIMAX DS system (via 5x CHAKRA (TWINS) and Keltik AKTIV speakers. The valve gear is a 20W Triode KT88 VALVE setup (vinly via AudioNote TT2 + Goldring Elite cartridge) but through (ancient ) 3 Way Technics bookshelf speakers. In the room the Valve setup is very big, delicate, spacious and detailed (a bit like listening to a gas). The DS tends to be sturdier, maybe more coloured and completely 'bulldozes' through the dynamics but it's ballsier as a consequence. This solid state sounds as you'd expect, clean and open but less "tone". The amplification used (chakras) are put to the test more than the DS itself, the DS is merely the 'reader' and the smplifying components contribute to the overall sound considerably. However, the above generalisations are seemingly typical of valve gear and transitor gear (ie regardless of manufacturer!). If you prefer the DS based system then it is the better system. If you prefer the Valve based system then it is the better system. This A to B test is for infomation only and not for argument. You may as well argue "light blue is better than dark blue" it's all personal taste. This clip is to give people an idea of what valves sound like as shops rarely have them set up and not many friends have them. The DS system used here is maybe around £25 000. Sound test with the two 18" Yorkville Elite professional subwoofers I bought. This is the first part of my new DJ/house party system. Subs are powered by a QSC Model 1400 amplifier connected to the subwoofer pre-out on my Sony STR-DE597 home audio receiver. I have my iPod connected to the Realistic stereo mixing console which is connected to the Sony audio receiver. There are two Sony bookshelf speakers on top of the subs. The next part of my system will consist of a proper mixer and amplifier along with two full-range professional speakers (I'm looking into getting a pair of EV Eliminators). It's a short video but I managed to get it in 720HD. No real point of this other than showing off some old tech! Enjoy. My dad handed this system down to me years ago (aprox 10 years ago) when he upgraded to newer tech and better performance. This amp was one of the better units available back in the day at a respected price. Now used, they're still not cheap. The equalizer here is showing its age but the other components are in tip top shape for being 30 years old. The 5 disc Toshiba player was picked up in Calgary AB in 1988. Everything else was bought new in 1980. My 200w bookshelf speakers (0) are currently in use with the TV system, so I temporarily hooked up these older Koss speakers from the workshop. They put out 5-50w at 8ohm and are decent for the radio but don't have the clarity at even mid volume; of course. However, they work for now until I can get a deal on some decent speakers. The 5 disc CD player has been severely abused over the years. I had it set up in a commercial car wash for several years. It was subjected to extremely moist environment, including super hot dry air, and even managed to survive several freeze/thaws when the heaters decided not to operate. It keeps on playing and is still clear. I took the case off once to get it inspected by a shop 4 years ago to make sure it won't be a fire hazard for indoor use. I even transported the units for various functions that I hosted over the years (not all the components!).
