This unit totally kicks ass! But I have no use for it. It is perfect for a whole system amp, front stage + sub or an active front stage. In the video the front stage is hooked up to the Boston speakers and the rear stage is hooked up bridged to the Hollywood subwoofer.

I kept seeing everyones video with there logitech sound system for there computer. got kinda tired of it so i thought id post up a video of my computers sound system. 2 Klipsch KG.5 bookshelves on a Yamaha CR-640 receiver, only had it about half volume in the video. No bass intended, so dont say "it doesnt hit"..or whatever. simply a SQ setup. Also i love logitech myself, this isnt a "hate" video.

This solid state sounds as you'd expect, clean and open but less "tone". The amplification used (chakras) are put to the test more than the DS itself, the DS is merely the 'reader' and the smplifying components contribute to the overall sound considerably. However, the above generalisations are seemingly typical of valve gear and transitor gear (ie regardless of manufacturer!). If you prefer the DS based system then it is the better system. If you prefer the Valve based system then it is the better system. This A to B test is for infomation only and not for argument. You may as well argue "light blue is better than dark blue" it's all personal taste. Sound test with the two 18" Yorkville Elite professional subwoofers I bought. This is the first part of my new DJ/house party system. Subs are powered by a QSC Model 1400 amplifier connected to the subwoofer pre-out on my Sony STR-DE597 home audio receiver. I have my iPod connected to the Realistic stereo mixing console which is connected to the Sony audio receiver. There are two Sony bookshelf speakers on top of the subs. The next part of my system will consist of a proper mixer and amplifier along with two full-range professional speakers (I'm looking into getting a pair of EV Eliminators). Considering the fact that I'm using a cheap mixer and a non-professional home audio receiver for the sound (the QSC amp and subs are the only professional components of this setup) it still pounds really hard. SOLD - See my last day of testing after converting these here in test-not-complete internally form (from the way they are here, just assembled enough for testing), to completed form. You'll know the finished version by the video showing them with the left speaker with grill attached and the right with the grill off. Also you may notice that the woofers have been realigned (the bolts are now at 12 and 6 o'clock). Wiring now hardwired (ie soldered) to the boards (they were just taped down here) and the ports are permanently glued down from being just taped into place here in this video. No dampening here. Lot's of finishing touch improvements since this video in my final test in my latest video before being packed to ship to their happy new owner. These speakers have been SOLD... It's a short video but I managed to get it in 720HD. No real point of this other than showing off some old tech! Enjoy. My dad handed this system down to me years ago (aprox 10 years ago) when he upgraded to newer tech and better performance. This amp was one of the better units available back in the day at a respected price. Now used, they're still not cheap. The equalizer here is showing its age but the other components are in tip top shape for being 30 years old. The 5 disc Toshiba player was picked up in Calgary AB in 1988. Everything else was bought new in 1980. My 200w bookshelf speakers (0) are currently in use with the TV system, so I temporarily hooked up these older Koss speakers from the workshop. They put out 5-50w at 8ohm and are decent for the radio but don't have the clarity at even mid volume; of course. However, they work for now until I can get a deal on some decent speakers. The 5 disc CD player has been severely abused over the years. I had it set up in a commercial car wash for several years. It was subjected to extremely moist environment, including super hot dry air, and even managed to survive several freeze/thaws when the heaters decided not to operate. It keeps on playing and is still clear. I took the case off once to get it inspected by a shop 4 years ago to make sure it won't be a fire hazard for indoor use. I even transported the units for various functions that I hosted over the years (not all the components!).

I made two copies of this design so that there can be one on each side of stage...it has a single JBL 12" speaker inside it, frame is of plywood. The speaker in this video is driven by a crate 75W amp. The back of the cabinet has a 12" hole in it too, so sound comes out both ends. To record with this cabinet, I found the best way is with a microphone directly abover the rotting cabinet, so that the speaker's entire swirl gets picked up, if the microphone is in front of the speaker, you only get half of the swirl, and it doesnt sound as good. In the middle of the video you can tell the differenc in sound from the speaker being rotating or not. (big diffeerence) Carbon vacuum cleaner spring-loaded brushes bring in current to the speaker at the top and the bottom of the cabinet through bronce slip rings. THere is a heavy flyweel that I kick to make it go - similar to a potter's kickwheel. This can easily be motor-driven, with small electric motor and rubber wheel resting on top of flywheel to spin it - sewing machine motors with food pedal speed control work well for this or just small DC motor with different voltage input for different speeds... I made another design of speaker cabinet that can spin both vertical or horizontal a photo of it is at this link: www.geocities.com

The mic is on top of my camera, thats why some angles are bad.. I was aiming for the tweets/woofers in certain parts. Polk Audio TSI-200 Bookshelf Speakers. Some websites say these are Bi-amp speakers - Meaning there are 2 inputs on the back, one for the woofers and one for the tweeters. That is not the case on this set, as shown, there is only 1 input. They are hooked up to a Philips FW-C550 240Watt (120x2) Stereo. Recorded with a digital camera, so yes the audio is not accurate.

I recommend buying a high power unit and with a remote control which will make it easier to use from far. The power supply from a discarded computer works fine, the yellow wire is 12v (you usually have to connect the green wire to any black wire to bypass the switch on the computer case). You could use the larger battery box and install car speakers on the sides of the box to make a portable boom box. There are other youtube video's showing you how to do this with plastic tool boxes. However, those won't be really waterproof. List of items used: Battery case (from Walmart, smallest size) Power supply (300watts) from discarded computer (probably any wattage would work). Clarion head unit (200 watts total) with remote control Marine stereo cover smoke color (bought on Amazon for (but "clear" color was even cheaper. Rubber car antenna - universal at auto parts store. Speaker connector terminals - .50 each on clearance at Radio Shack. Silicone sealant - used on everything that was cut out to keep it water tight.
